01 — INTRODUCTION

A fee-only adviser who works only for you

I am a SEBI Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) and fixed-fee financial planner based in Pune. Technology gives me the freedom to serve clients across locations, while remaining personally accessible and committed to their financial goals.

I do not earn commissions, incentives, or referral fees from mutual fund companies, insurance companies, brokers, or any other product manufacturers or distributors. My only source of compensation is the fee paid by my clients. I do not sell investment or insurance products, chase market predictions, or make heroic forecasts.

My role is to help investors make sensible financial decisions through clear planning, thoughtful risk management, disciplined asset allocation, and simple financial products.

I believe financial plans should be simple enough to follow, robust enough to withstand uncertainty, and practical enough to be maintained over decades.

02 — APPROACH

Financial planning that is simple, understandable and useful

A good financial plan is not a collection of products. It is a practical framework for better decisions about spending, saving, protecting, and investing under uncertainty.

Asset allocation is the key to good financial planning

Before discussing products, I determine an appropriate level of risk and design an allocation that is realistic, sustainable, and aligned with your goals. Product selection comes later and remains subordinate to it.

Education-based advice

Not only recommendations — you'll understand the principles behind your plan and the role of each part of your portfolio.

Passive & index-oriented investing

Low costs, fewer unnecessary decisions, and no turning investing into a forecasting exercise.

Defensive-passive mindset

Plans that survive unfavourable outcomes rather than depend on favourable ones.

No needless complexity

Know what you own, why you own it, and what role it plays. Complexity weakens discipline.

What clients should expect

  • Thoughtful onboarding to understand goals, circumstances, and suitability.
  • In-depth discussion of risk profile, financial behaviour, and constraints.
  • Asset-allocation-led planning before implementation.
  • Simple, practical, explainable recommendations.
  • Calm reviews focused on progress, not market noise.

Who may not be a good fit

  • Those seeking market predictions or return maximisation above all.
  • Those wanting highly complex portfolios or frequent tactical changes.
  • Those seeking trading ideas, speculative products, or product distribution.
  • Those not interested in the reasoning behind recommendations.

How an engagement works

  1. Introductory conversation to understand suitability and explain how I work.
  2. Client agreement, onboarding, KYC and risk profiling.
  3. Collection and review of financial information, goals, and existing investments.
  4. Planning discussions on priorities, trade-offs, and asset allocation.
  5. Presentation of a clear, practical, implementable financial plan.
  6. Ongoing support and periodic reviews as required.

03 — FEES

Fixed-Fee Financial Planning

The fixed-fee model avoids many of the conflicts in commission-based and AUA-based models, keeping the focus on suitability and simplicity.

Initial Financial Planning Engagement

₹20,000 + applicable taxes

Annual Review / Renewal Engagement

₹10,000 + applicable taxes
Fees are per family of client, agreed in writing in the Investment Advisory Agreement, and within SEBI-prescribed limits. Payment only via banking channels (cheque, NEFT/RTGS/IMPS, UPI) or SEBI's Centralised Fee Collection Mechanism (CeFCoM) — no cash. Fees are not collected in advance for more than one year. On early termination, fees for the unexpired period are refunded, less a breakage fee not exceeding one quarter's fee, as per the agreement.

I am a native of Pune — popularly known as the Cultural Capital of India and the Oxford of the East. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ICAI) as well as a Cost and Management Accountant (ICMAI). I initially worked with different CA firms for shorter durations, then joined HDFC Ltd in 2000 and worked there for the next 23 years.

I left my corporate job at the age of 50 to start my independent practice. While this decision carries inherent risks, the trade-off is well worth it: complete autonomy, the freedom to work at my own pace, and dedicated time to research and craft solutions that genuinely enhance my clients' financial well-being.

My portfolio was highly concentrated due to employer ESOPs. Rational and personalised asset allocation was the need of the hour. This is when I sought unbiased, fee-only professional advice for my own financial planning — and came to appreciate both the value of and the expectations from this profession: genuinely customised, cost-effective, conflict-free advice, closely regulated by BSE (BASL) and SEBI. Working with Swapnil Kendhe (SEBI RIA) on my comprehensive financial planning provided me with invaluable insights. His expertise helped bring total clarity to my long-term financial goals and strategy.

I was introduced to the profession of fixed-fee financial planners and SEBI RIAs through the research-based blogs on Freefincal, founded by Mr M Pattabhiraman.

I cleared the NISM Series X-A and X-B certifications and subsequently received my registration as a SEBI RIA in June 2026.

Geography should never be a barrier to good financial advice. I can serve and support my clients wherever they are.
